All the setup requires is that you connect a computer right to the Netgear router once you have connected the cable and the power. The router does not have a CD for giving directions, but you simply open up a webpage after connecting to the router, and you’ll get a prebuilt SSID and password. You just type in routerlogin.net or 192.168.1.1 in the address field of the web browser and when you hit enter, it takes you to the Netgear Genie program. On the web page, you can configure the basic setup and you can also modify the advanced features. The router features DLNA functionality and a pair of USB ports so you could easily connect printers and hard disk drives. The menu of the Genie is extremely basic and it is going to let you know of any status changes. You can easily check to see if everything is properly linked to the router.

The router is much larger than a lot of routers, and it has a clear base that is attached so that it’s always standing. The router and base setup is rather stable that it will not tip over with many Ethernet cables connected though the sleek finish will leave finger prints. The Netgear N900 (WNDR4500) is expensive in comparison with other routers but it is worth the expense. This router is great if you do lots of streaming of HD shows and motion pictures over your network or you do lots of network gaming. The router has amazing range so you should have excellent signal strength in all sections of your home. Someone was able to have a consistent connection with a number of laptops, two PS3s, tablets, kindles and a printer. He has downloaded computer software, ebooks, huge work related files and watched videos without any dropped connections. He is perplexed by all of the reviews that report difficulties, since he couldn’t be happier.
